It's Time to End TB
Health day
Each year we recognise World TB Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic impact of TB and urge acceleration of efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
This annual event commemorates the date in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB).
This year, the World TB Day theme is "It's Time". World TB Day is a day to educate the public about the impact of TB around the world. As procurement agent for GDF, IDA Foundation, along with our partners and colleagues around the world use this day to raise awareness of the challenges that hinder our progress toward the elimination of this devastating disease.
It’s Time... to fully fund the TB response. This World TB Day 2019, we join the TB community to call for US$13 billion a year by 2022 for universal access to quality TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.
It’s Time...Ito talk about TB. We want to end TB-related stigma and discrimination and to protect and promote human rights. Get inspired with these materials.
It’s Time...for access to short and simple TB treatments for all in need. We join our partners in the call for new rapid testing and TB treatment regimens that are short, with no side effects and accessible for all.
Using this World TB Day 2019 theme, members of the IDA Amsterdam team joined the campaign to raise awareness. To see the results, check out our Facebook page!
