IDA receives ISO 14001:2015 certificate
News
We are happy to announce that IDA Foundation has received ISO 14001:2015 certification for our Environmental Management System (EMS), applying to our sales, procurement, distribution of medicinal products and medical supplies, and value-added services.
ISO 14001 is a globally recognised international standard for Environmental Management System (EMS) that specifies the requirements for organisations that want to enhance their environmental performance and increase their ability to meet supplier and customer requirements when it comes to the environment. By adhering to ISO 14001 guidelines, we are better able to monitor, measure, analyse and evaluate our environmental performance, giving us the framework needed for continuous improvement in preventing pollution and minimizing our environmental footprint.
“As a social enterprise with a mission in bridging the gap in access to medicines, we also understand we have an important role to play in recognising and addressing the environmental impacts of the global healthcare supply chain”, said IDA’s CEO Wendy Eggen. “Our ISO 14001 certification is a next step in our commitment to the environment: actively identifying our impacts and looking for opportunities to improve and influence processes to reduce waste, prevent pollution and reduce the carbon footprint of IDA, and its partners”.
In IDA’s sustainability strategy, we have identified our material topics across three pillars: People, Purpose and Planet. The ISO 14001 certification contributes to the latter, where we focus on targets relating to environmental sustainability.
