IDA Product Indicator 2022 now available

News

Amsterdam, 31 January 2022 - Every year IDA publishes the Product Indicator – a booklet providing an overview of the products we supply, ranging from essential medicines for noncommunicable and infectious diseases, to medical supplies and emergency response goods. The medicines listed in the Product Indicator are grouped according to the WHO classification of Essential Medicines (EML). All medicines on the EML satisfy the minimum requirements for priority healthcare needs of the population, and are selected according to public health relevance, evidence of efficacy and safety and comparative cost-effectiveness.

Beyond the medicines listed in the EML, IDA evaluates customer needs and addresses specific country requirements to continually update our product range, for both medicines and supplies, to fill gaps and see where we can make the biggest impact.

What is new in this year’s edition?

In our ambition towards universal health coverage, we target the most underserved health markets. Having identified the increased global focus on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH), we have therefore created separate sections for anticancer medicines/oncology and RMNCH products in this edition of the Product Indicator.

Examples of new products include:

  • A broader range of oncology medicines (NCDs)
  • Compostable sanitary pads (RMNCH)
  • Wheelchairs (Assistive Technology – medical equipment)
  • Measles kit

The Product Indicator is published in English, with specific sections also translated to French.

Please contact IDA’s service desk or your sales representative to discuss possible options and/or alternatives if you require a product that is not listed in the Product Indicator 2022.
