How achieving Universal Health Coverage motivates us

Health day

Amsterdam, 12 December 2022 – On Universal Health Coverage Day we raise awareness of the importance to leave no one behind. At IDA Foundation, it is our mission to bridge the gap in access to medicines and we have adopted Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as one of our long-term goals.

With 50 years of experience, and our mission of being the vital link in access to medicines and medical supplies to countries in need, IDA has largely incorporated 'SDG3: Global Health and wellbeing' into its strategic vision. We aim to maximise our impact through our role as a procurement agent for global health programmes such as the Stop TB/Global Drug Facility, Global Fund Pooled Procurement Programme for malaria vector control, and the USAID Global Health Supply Chain programme. Aside from these programmes, we respond to emergencies quickly and effectively. This allows health organisations worldwide to be equipped with standardised kits, such as emergency health kits (IEHK) or cholera kits. Our wide experience in kitting, also translates to the supply of custom-made kits, specifically designed to meet the needs of our customers.

In all we do, we always ensure that IDA is bridging a gap: whether it is in quality, access, affordability, innovation, or product portfolio, we always ensure that we are reaching patients with the right products in the countries that need it most. In doing so, we are ensuring that patients can access quality-assured and affordable health products. Want to read more about the programmes or customers we support? Read our Stories.

Our other goals are Strengthened Local Capacity and Sustainable Value Chains. Read more about our long-term goals on Our Goals page.
