IDA supplies oxygen concentrators to LMICs

Blog

This month, IDA supplied 500 oxygen concentrators to Dubai and Ghana for one our largest customers to be distributed to various end destinations in Africa and Asia.

Medical oxygen is becoming a critical need as the second wave of COVID-19 unfolds in Africa and seen as a crucial factor in the management of COVID-19 patients. WHO reports a 39% increase in COVID-19 cases on the African continent in the last month, resulting in a surge in demand for treatment. Recognising the central importance of sustainable oxygen supply – alongside therapeutic products such as dexamethasone – WHO just announced the launch of the COVID-19 Oxygen Emergency Taskforce for the coordination and advocacy for increased supply of oxygen in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Since the start of the pandemic, IDA has been actively sourcing products for COVID-19 response, anticipating upcoming healthcare challenges in LMICs. Aside from the much-needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and diagnostic tests, we have been sourcing medical equipment and medicines for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Our focus is not only to ensure healthcare workers are protected while doing their work, but also to ensure they are working with quality equipment to treat their patients in the best way possible.
