Since the COVID-19 outbreak in China in the end of 2019, IDA has been actively working on the sourcing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) products for COVID-19 response, anticipating upcoming global healthcare challenges, especially in low-and middle-income countries. As there is no official treatment available yet for COVID-19, our current focus is on ensuring people, especially healthcare workers, are protected while doing their work. We are also looking at the supply of diagnostic tests and other COVID-19-related items.
We are currently supplying large quantities of PPE to over 30 different customers worldwide. To rapidly scale up in the supply of PPE, IDA set up an emergency QA approval process which incorporates IDA's quality guidelines (see Quality). This has allowed us to efficiently and effectively approve PPE products from a broad range of suppliers, all well documented in IDA’s Quality Management System. Through our China office, IDA is up to date on all market developments, and we have been able to find solutions for export limitations, a typical COVID-19 challenge for PPE in especially Q1 and Q2. For the current situation considering manufacturing and logistics, please refer to our regularly updated COVID-19 FAQ page.
