Making Quality Healthcare Affordable
World Aids Day 2009
‘Universal access to ARVs’ workshop IDA Foundation
World AIDS Day on the 1st of December draws together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
This day is one of the most visible opportunities to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care in high prevalence countries and around the world.
One of the many initiatives that day is the National STI*HIV*SEX Conference. This annual conference addresses the response to both STIs/HIV and the corresponding sexual health issues within and from the Netherlands. IDA Foundations Vanessa Klaassen, Vicente Segovia and Alix Pahaut will be present and will be giving a workshop on ‘Universal Access to ARVs’
The workshop aims to increase awareness and understanding of the efforts and challenges for universal access to anti-retroviral drugs- something which the lives of millions depend on, considering 95% of the 33 million people living with HIV/AIDS live in developing countries.
The conference will take place at the Amsterdam RAI conference centre and is organised by the Aids Fonds, Soa Aids Nederland and STOP AIDS NOW! The conference website is www.soaaidscongres.nl.
