Area Manager North America
IDA Foundation, founded in 1972, is the world’s largest professional not-for-profit supplier organisation of essential drugs and medical supplies. AREA MANAGER NORTH AMERICA
Job Context
The Area Manager for North America will initiate and develop partnerships in and from North America to supply essential medicines and medical supplies to low- and medium- income countries across the world. A substantial part of health care programs for our target countries are funded by Bi/Multi-lateral organizations in the U.S.A.
The Area Manager will be responsible to develop IDA’s role and promote its services.
Position in the organisation
The Area Manager North America reports to the Manager Sales & Marketing.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Create and execute regional sales strategies for the area.
- Follow trends in treatment areas in the international NGO environment.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Cultivate ongoing relationships with existing clients and stakeholders in the North American NGO sector
- Develop and engage in strategic relationships and/or partnerships with bilateral and multilateral development organizations
- Cooperate closely with IDA internal sales support, procurement, planning and logistics departments in order to ensure an efficient supply chain and customer satisfaction
- Work together and communicate with other regional Area Managers where North American customers are sending pharmaceutical and medical supply consignments to ensure most efficient logistics and logistic partners
- Work together with regional sales support team to provide guidance and oversight on managing client accounts and strategies
- Representation, coordination and ongoing engagement with donors, multi-lateral and bilateral stakeholders involved in pharmaceutical and medical supply procurement initiatives for the treatment of HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB and Sexual and Reproductive Health
- Delivery on annual revenues and contribution margin objectives
- Drive to make a difference for countries where IDA Foundation is a key partner in national healthcare
- The Area Manager works closely together with the Sales Support team and sets priorities with his/her team
Competences
- Senior level representation skills
- Experience in pharmaceutical and/or medical field is preferred
- Commercial experience with strong analytic and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English
- Good command of Spanish and French is an asset
- Willing and able to travel approximately 25% of the time
Educational level
Graduate degree in international development; a medical biology or other relevant business-medical graduate degree is preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 5-10 years sales experience in related areas such as pharmaceutical or medical supplies
- International commerce (Sales/Purchase) business-to-business markets experience is an advantage
- Track record in account management and DMU Management
- Managerial responsibilities and experience is an advantage
- Experience with indirect channels
- Experience with USAID and USCDC procurement rules, regulations and requirements is an asset
