- activities started by pharmacy students in Amsterdam

1978 
- first publication of the IDA price list following WHO essential drug list

1983 
- yearly turnover reaches $10 million

1985 
- quality control laboratory installed at IDA premises

1988 
- IDA takes majority shareholding in Pharmamed Ltd (Malta), a manufacturing site for solid oral dosage forms

1990 
- IDA acquires full equity in Pharmamed Ltd (Malta)
- GMP and GLC certification for Pharmamed Ltd
- yearly turnover reaches $50 million

1991 
- factory premises at Pharmamed Ltd (Malta) modernised, improved and extended

1992 
- new offices and extended warehouse facilities opened in Amsterdam

1994 
- yearly turnover reaches $75 million
- GMP and GDP certification for IDA
- export of products to more than 100 different countries

1995 
- opening new distribution centre in De Meern (the Netherlands)

1996 
- yearly turnover reaches $100 million
- opening of Pharmamed Parenterals Ltd (Malta), manufacturer of solutions for injections
- October 1996, first Training Course in Managing Drug Supply for Primary Health Care

1997 
- 25th anniversary of the IDA Foundation
- opening of IDA office China

2001 
- Pharmamed Ltd sold to Delta (now Actavis Group)

2000 
- ISO 9001:2000 certification for IDA Foundation

2004 
- specialised IDA HIV/AIDS Group BV established as separate legal entity to procure all antiretroviral medicines and related products

2005 
- regional office set up in Nigeria
- accreditation as European Commission Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO) ‘Humanitarian  Procurement Center’ 
- separate entity for training and consultancy established, called IDA Solutions to avoid confusion with IDA Foundation

2006 
- IDA office opened in Mumbai (India) managing procurement, quality affairs, and logistics for IDA’s manufacturing sources in India
- IDA receives USAID Source/Origin Waiver

2007 
- IDA selected as Procurement Agent for Global Drug Facility (GDF) second-line tuberculosis drugs.
- service agreement established with VIMTA Laboratory for all analytical control of batches.

2008
- VIMTA Laboratory becomes a WHO- prequalified laboratory
- regional office set up in Chile

2009
- launch of new IDA website
- IDA selected as Procurement Agent for Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) projects funded by UNITAID
- IDA Foundation USA established

2010 
- ISO 9001:2008 certification for IDA Foundation
